Hello adventurer! In today’s Christmas post, I want you to think about what games can mean to people and what good games can do for people around the world. As we design the experience and UX of games, it’s easy to get lost in the details of design. Today is a reminder that games can mean a lot to people, and we should design games better for them, for everyone.

Games aren’t just a short fun for people, they can also be a way to;

Develop new skills

Experience and be a part of a great story

Feeling empowered

Gaining confidence

Have fun with friends

Find new friends across the world

To not feel alone

To forget about hardships in life

To forget physical limitations

And escape to a new magical life.

Here are some Gaming charities that I think do great things for gamers around the world.

If you want to help spread some Christmas-gaming love, consider making a donation ❤️

🎁 Extra Life (Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals)

A huge global gaming fundraiser where players raise money for local children’s hospitals by playing games and collecting donations. It has become one of the largest gaming charity events in the world, with over $130 million+ raised since its start in 2008 for pediatric healthcare services and equipment.

🎁 AbleGamers Foundation

Focused on accessibility and inclusion, AbleGamers helps people with disabilities to enjoy video games by providing adaptive equipment, resources, and support, and by working with developers to improve accessibility in games.
Because games should be accessible and fun for everyone!

🎁 Humble Bundle

Not a charity per se, but a digital gaming store and bundle platform that has directed hundreds of millions of dollars to thousands of charities globally through “pay-what-you-want” bundles and charity-focused campaigns. This is a great way to get more games to play to learn game design, while knowing the money goes towards good causes.

Have a lovely Merry Christmas! ❤️

I wish that you use this time to relax and recharge, and perhaps play some fun games!
